Cai_01.jpg

Mordecai

Patricia Hasz February 7, 2019

THIS KID.

Some of you that are taking the time to look at these photos have been following along with Mordecai’s story. For those that haven’t, a little bit of background story: Cai was diagnosed with spina bifida around 20 weeks and has been fighting all of the odds ever since. His diagnosis required surgery be done while he was still in the womb in order to close the opening in his back. His parents, Krissy & Titus, who live in Portland, decided to spend the remaining time of the pregnancy in Minneapolis where the surgery would be performed. Luckily, this was able to bring them closer to being near family and lots and lots of love and support. The surgery went incredibly well, but the fight wasn’t over. The last month of the pregnancy, Krissy was admitted to the hospital for monitoring, until a c-section was scheduled at 34 weeks. Cai was born at a whopping 4 lbs 1 oz. He kicked butt when it came to doing everything he needed to in order to be allowed to go home. When released from the hospital, I was lucky enough to meet him before they all headed back to Oregon, which they had to do by train because of oxygen levels on an airplane. Cai, his sister, and his parents are back in Portland now and doing well. Poor little dude is unfortunately likely to have health issues come up every now and again, but based on how well he has done so far, I have no doubt he will be an amazing kid. I am so, so, so happy for his family and wish the very best for them.

Kayla & Joe {the wedding}

Patricia Hasz January 29, 2019

Joe and Kayla’s wedding was simply lovely. Having a wedding in January in Wisconsin, you are certainly taking a huge gamble when it comes to weather, but WOW, did they get lucky that day. Weirdly, there was pretty much zero snow on the ground which is weird enough, but it was a beautiful sunny and 40 degrees. Nothing compared to the crazy cold temperatures right now. I just asked Siri what the current windchill was and we’re currently at a wonderful -43 degrees and it’s only expected to get colder as the night goes on.

The style of this wedding was completely on point. The calm blue color of the dresses was super classy and had all of the girls looking stunning. The guys looked pretty fancy as well. Being a part of this day was a pleasure and all of the family and friends were beyond great. Kayla and Joe have a beautiful life ahead of them.

Kayla & Joe

Patricia Hasz January 25, 2019

I loved working with Kayla and Joe. Both said they didn’t like being in front of the camera, but with Kayla’s own photography experience and natural adorableness, neither one of them had any issues being crazy cute together. Joe’s family owns a cute little cafe in Neillsville and a blueberry farm, and believe me when I say, I was perfectly happy having both as settings for photos.

Kate & Jason

Patricia Hasz June 6, 2018

Kate and I have been friends for a good chunk of the time that I lived in Seattle and I don't doubt that friendship will continue for many years to come!  I love being able to document the different stages in her life-- her engagement, her wedding, and now being pregnant with her first baby!  Her and Jason are so good for each other and I can't wait to see them as parents!

This sweet baby boy is so incredibly special and lucky.  If anyone is meant to be parents, it's Kaitlyn and Jake and anyone that knows them, knows how much it means to them to have this little guy in their lives.  What's also super special is that we took these photos on St. Patrick's Day-- the same day I met Jake and Kaitlyn years ago and we've been friends ever since!  Even though I don't live in Seattle anymore, I'm so glad I was able to take these photos for them and can't wait to see him again and how much he has changed in just a few short weeks!

I'm so grateful to all of the families I've taken photos for, but this y'all is certainly my most loyal family-- six sessions and counting! I'm so disappointed I won't be in Seattle to meet their newest addition but I can't wait to meet her the next time I'm there!

Road Trip Recap

Patricia Hasz February 1, 2018

I've always wanted to do a big road trip by myself, but the idea of it actually terrified me.  When I moved to Washington, there was a road trip involved, but it was essentially straight there and I had someone else traveling with me.   As I made the decision to move back to the Midwest, I also decided I was going to face whatever fears I had and make the trip alone.  This wasn't going to be the same route I had taken previously though, oh no no no.  I wanted to take advantage of the time I had and go places I might not ever get around to going otherwise.

Lake Ann

Patricia Hasz January 18, 2018

Before moving, I spent a weekend in Bellingham with my friends, Jake and Kaitlyn, that I've become very close with over the past several years.  For three? four? years, we lived about 5 blocks away from each other and it was about the same time they bought a house in Bellingham and I decided to move back to WI--both big changes for both of us.  It was this particular weekend they shared the exciting news with me that they were going to be having a baby which was absolutely amazing to be able to hear in person before I left.  I seriously cannot wait to get to meet their little babe in March!
ANYWAYS, this was my last hike I was able to squeeze in while visiting them before heading back to the Midwest and it was fantastic despite the crazy hot temps and minimal shade.  If anyone wants to go on an adventure with me in March, let me know!!

Fancy Food Camping

Patricia Hasz November 21, 2017

This was my last weekend of camping in the PNW before moving and it was probably one of my favorites.  I won't tell you where it was because all involved want it to be kept secret. It was such a gem of a spot and obvious that not many people know about it, and it would be great if it stayed that way.  Our main objective for this weekend was to cook "fancy" meals over the camp fire instead of defaulting to your simpler options like brats and hot dogs.  I think we did a pretty darn good job, and the photos can speak for themselves.  I miss these people a whole bunch and am extremely grateful to be friends with them.

Mt. Rainier - Skyline Loop

Patricia Hasz November 8, 2017

I'm so glad I was able to meet up with Shelly while she was out visiting the Pacific Northwest, and spent a day hiking around Mt. Rainier.  We knew going into the hike that the weather forecast wasn't the greatest, but crossed our fingers and hoped for the best.  We were met by lots and lots of fog, slippery snow, mist, cold temps, and little to no views all the way to the top.  BUT THEN, magically the skies cleared and the mountains showed themselves as though it was just for us and stayed that way for the hike back down.  Mt. Rainier didn't show itself but at that point, we were just happy to have whatever view we could get.  The wildflowers were out in full force and if you know me, you know I go a little crazy over taking photos of flowers.  Overall, the day definitely ended up being a success.

Braden, Cassie & Frances

Patricia Hasz November 8, 2017

This session is a perfect example of the goofiness I encourage while taking photos of kids.  Also, any parents that are all about their kid wearing an astronaut helmet for a few photos are my favorite.  I want photos to reflect true personalities so when you look back on your photos years down the road, you can remember more than just the way you and your family looked, but also the love and feelings you felt at the time.   I hope this family loves that they'll be able to look back on these photos in the future and say this is Frances when she was three.

Nate & Sonja {the wedding}

Patricia Hasz July 8, 2017

When Nate and Sonja first asked me if I would be their wedding photographer, I initially said no.  Nate is my brother and I was concerned that if I was working the whole day, I would miss out on enjoying the day with family.  It took me about 24 hours to change my mind.  As I thought about it, I realized what better way to be apart of their big day than to be up close and personal with them as their wedding photographer.  These two were so easy to take photos of.  They've known each other since they were babies and grew up living next door to each other.  The road to their happiness has had its bumps, but those bumps have only brought them closer together.  They are adorable together and perfect for each other.   Sonja has always been part of our family, but I think I speak for both my parents and my siblings when I say that we are so happy to have her officially be part of the Hasz Clan.

Nate & Sonja

Patricia Hasz July 8, 2017

I'm totally going to tease Nate and Sonja by posting some of my favorite photos from their engagement session last fall.  It only seems right to post them before the wedding photos!  As most of you know, they got married Memorial Day weekend and I had the honor of being their wedding photographer as well.  The wedding photos are coming so, so, so soon guys, I promise!

Kris, Molly & Emme

Patricia Hasz July 8, 2017

Emme was another one of my newborns and she's turning into such a delightful little lady.  She's such a smiley, happy girl, with the exception of when her dog gives her too many kisses. Her family just moved to Spokane so they wanted to make sure to document some memories in their home one last time.  I'm so glad to have been able to see this family again before they made their big move!

Jesse, Juliana, Aislyn, Wesley & Grammy

Patricia Hasz May 14, 2017

It's hard to believe how much time has gone by since I moved to Seattle.  Jesse and Juliana have been wonderful friends to have and I can't imagine living in this city without knowing them.  Their kids continue to amaze me with how smart and adorable they are, and I love that I will likely never be known as anything other than "Auntie Trish".  Grammy (aka Priscilla) was visiting from Wyoming and Wesley was turning the big ONE, so it was a perfect time for a photo session!

Yogi, Alison & Thatcher

Patricia Hasz May 7, 2017

I took photos of Thatcher when he was a newborn and it's always such a wonderful thing when I get to see my newborns again a year later.  I love getting to see how they've changed and how they've all only gotten cuter.  Thatcher is such a perfect mix of his parents.  If you ignore the crazy wind we got to deal with, it was a gorgeous setting.  Rattlesnake Lake was on my list of places to do photos for quite a while, and it was just as pretty as I hoped it would be.

Kyle, Stevie & Keegan

Patricia Hasz May 7, 2017

I met the goofy and adorable Keegan at a photo shoot I did with Fort Boards (www.fortboards.com, check them out!) and I'm so happy that turned into getting to take photos for him and his parents.  If you pay attention, you'll notice throughout the session, Keegan is carrying around a bunch of leaves, sticks and pine cones.  It took a lot of convincing at times that he should put them down temporarily, and his sharp little mind never failed to remember he needed to grab them every time we moved on to a new spot.  He's such a funny and awesome kid!
